The Spring 2017 issue of the Free To Be Faithful Newsletter features information on important court cases and religious liberty issues at the forefront this year that have significant implications for the rights of Christians to live faithfully.
For example:
- Read the latest about Judge Ruth Neely, a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church — an LCMS congregation in Pinedale, Wyo. — whom state officials censured even though they chose not to remove her from her judiciary duties for her faith-based beliefs about marriage.
- Read what the LCMS says about a proposed abortion-related ordinance for St. Louis that could add “pregnancy and reproductive health decisions as protected classes.”
- Learn more about Sterling v. United States. A dozen parties have now joined an amicus brief for the U.S. Supreme Court, including the LCMS and the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, as the court considers taking the case. The Sterling case began when a United States Marine, Lance Cpl. Monifa Sterling, was court-martialed for refusing an order to remove a Bible verse from her workspace.
