A great experience was had by many at the 2017 Lutherans in Black Ministry Family Convocation this summer in Birmingham, Ala. More than 500 people attended the event, coming together “All for Jesus” to worship Him in Word, in Sacrament, and with hymns and spiritual songs.
The latest TimeLine newsletter includes photos, participant reflections, and abridged presentations and sermons from the convocation. We hope you’ll particularly enjoy:
- The Rev. Dr. Ulmer Marshall’s opening worship sermon;
- Reflections from youth who attended, as well as photos from their servant events and visits to civil rights sites;
- A portion of the Rev. Dr. Dien Ashley Taylor’s keynote address; and
- A summary of the panel discussion with the Rev. Micah Glenn, the Rev. Delwyn Campbell and the Rev. Dr. Bill Griffin.
LCMS Black Ministry welcomes articles highlighting events, programs, activities, mission and “best practices” to share with other LCMS congregations in TimeLine. Please send your articles to the Rev. Dr. Roosevelt Gray Jr. at roosevelt.gray@lcms.org by Oct. 15 for the fourth quarter 2017 newsletter.
