In the December 2016 issue of StewardCAST, LCMS Stewardship Ministry shares information about barriers to being a faithful steward and the ways these blockades can be removed.
The single greatest barrier to faithful stewardship is when a faithful steward inserts his/her will into all things in his/her life and thus claims ownership of them. This act takes the place of the Lord who is the owner of all things. As faithful stewards, we are only entrusted with carrying out the will of the Lord, the owner.
Congregational leaders are given the task of helping to remove these barriers in the life of its members, the faithful stewards. The first step in this process is repentance which allows for the creation of an honest stewardship culture within the congregation and within the individuals’ lives. Doing this sets the stage for God to work and the barriers to come down.
