“I thank God and Jesus Christ that your people have regarded us as human beings.”
In this issue of Sharing, LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison recounts these words that a Kenyan boy said to him nearly 20 years ago and recalls the beginnings of Project 24, a joint program of the LCMS and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya.
The program, which was started in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, now has nine facilities in Kenya where hundreds of children have been able to attend school, study God’s Word and receive the care they need.
This issue describes two of the ways that children and families have been impacted by the Savior’s mercy thanks to those who generously support LCMS World Relief and Human Care.
- In 2024 and 2025, the LCMS held retreats for parents of children facing LGBTQ+ temptations.
- A young man in Kenya is now pursuing a career as a Lutheran teacher thanks to the care he received from Project 24.
