LCMS-TimeLine-December-2015-PromoThe fourth quarter edition of LCMS Black Ministry’s TimeLine newsletter focuses on how congregations involved in African-American and ethnic ministries are reaching out to their communities. Snapshots of these outreach activities are shared throughout this issue.

Specifically, information is provided about Acts 2 Enterprise (A2E), an intentional urban mission outreach approach being used in Detroit. Pastor Christopher Bodley is the director of A2E, and he is based out of Bethany Lutheran Church on the east side of Detroit.

Information about the following outreach efforts is also included:

  • Girl Scout Troop 544 out of Grace Lutheran Church, Concord, N.C., and the book house project the troop coordinates;
  • Walking and praying for the community as part of the prayer power walk Grace Lutheran Church, Concord, N.C.;
  • VBS programs offered at Berea Lutheran Church, Baltimore;
  • Confirmation classes provided at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Prattville, Ala.;
  • VBS programs offered and the resulting baptisms at St. Paul Lutheran Church, College Hill (St. Louis), Mo.; and
  • Serving the Sudanese community at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Renton, Wash.

LCMS Black Ministry welcomes articles highlighting events, programs, activities, mission and “best practices” to share with other LCMS congregations in TimeLine. Please send your articles to the Rev.
