Preaching is challenging business. Everyone can use some encouragement and fresh ideas.

Lutheran pastors want their preaching to be faithful to the Scriptures and to the language and methodology that the Lord Himself gives. But to do this, the pastor must first have the right lens through which to interpret the experiences of his own life and apply the Word of God to the lives of others.

In this module, the Rev. Peter Bender, pastor of Peace Lutheran Church and Academy in Sussex, Wis., and director of the Concordia Catechetical Academy, discusses the task of catechetical preaching and emphasizes the importance of learning the texts of Scripture and the Small Catechism by heart.
