LCMS Worship provides hymn suggestions for Three-Year Series B and the One-Year Series to use during the 2023-24 church year.

In the Lutheran church, hymns are not “filler” or background music. They are an integral part of proclaiming the Word of God. We teach and admonish one another in these hymns, so that the Word of Christ may dwell in our hearts and sustain our faith until we die (Col. 3).

The Series B hymn suggestions were compiled by Kantor Nathan Beethe from Grace Lutheran Church of Auburn, Mich. The One-Year Series hymn curriculum was prepared by Rev. Ronald Stephens, senior pastor of Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Bend, Ind.

The suggested hymns are offered with the intent that the people of God not only hear the Word as proclaimed in the readings and the sermon but also join in the proclamation of each Sunday or feast.
