LCMS World Relief and Human Care: Sharing newsletter — May 2022

“We as the LCMS have tremendous capacity” to serve others, writes the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), in the May 2022 issue of Sharing.

The people of the LCMS love to serve others, and this issue highlights how Lutherans are helping people in need around the world:

  • The LCMS Office of International Mission is helping to provide for Ukrainians — both those in the country and those who have fled — during the current conflict with Russia.
  • Experienced Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) members recently spent a month cutting up fallen trees and assisting residents in Mayfield, Ky., after an EF4 tornado struck the area on Dec. 10, 2021.

“Who would have thought we’d answer Jesus’ call by doing this?” Harrison concludes. “‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me’ (Matt. 25:40).”
