“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:4–7).
In this issue of Sharing, LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison reminds readers that because Christ had mercy on us, we are compelled to share that mercy with others. The January 2023 issue gives a glimpse of how this is being accomplished all around the world:
- The members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carol Stream, Ill., are providing for families in the community through the church’s monthly Breakfast with Baby event.
- LCMS missionary Rev. J.P. Cima recently sourced and provided 100 Bibles in the Jarai language for a group of Lutherans in northeastern Cambodia who had not previously been able to read both the Old and New Testaments in their own language.
