Continuing Discussion in Disaster Response

Last week we talked about the issues of communication that happen in a massive disaster response network like LERT. We also announced our upcoming conference where you can learn all about Disaster Response and the Theology for Mercy along with over 100 other Disaster Response volunteers from all over the country. Read about that here!

As great as the conferences are, they are only three days out of the year. How can we continue talking about Disaster Response the other 362?

Live Discussion 365 days a year on Facebook

Most of you already know about the LCMS Disaster Response Facebook page where we share news, videos, and calls to action every day of the year. And if you don’t, what are you waiting for?

Facebook pages are great but they lack one very important feature… DISCUSSION!

That will no longer be an issue with the new LCMS Disaster Response Facebook Group. This is your opportunity to ask questions not only to us, but to LC-MS disaster professionals and volunteers from all over the country. You are driving the discussion, the stage is yours!

Did you find a story about a disaster response that went awry? Share it!

Do you want to learn some best practices? Ask away!

Do you want to compare your story of being a volunteer to others all over the country? Please do!

Want to know why we focus so much on the Theology for Mercy?  Let’s have the discussion!

Mostly, we want to hear from you. What do you want to learn about disaster response?

If you come to the page, this is what you’ll see…

Welcome message and Group Rules

Welcome to the OFFICIAL LCMS Disaster Response Facebook Group where you can share your stories and experiences, collaborate on best practices and ongoing relief efforts, discuss the projects that LCMS Disaster Response and other disaster partners are engaged in, and suggest new avenues for driving engagement. In order to get the most out of this group we need to set some ground rules.

  1. No self promotion of your blog, organization, or Gofundme campaigns.
  2. Please share your stories, experiences and ask as many questions as you want! And if you have an answer to someone’s question, please feel free to answer it.
  3. Moderators may control the conversation if comments or posts stray away from the intent of the group. Please remember that our primary goal is to have helpful discussions which support LCMS congregations deliver mercy in the wake of disasters.

Have I piqued your interest? Are you ready to be a part of the discussion?
