LCMS Worship provides suggestions for liturgy, psalms, readings, hymns and collects to use during 2019 midweek Lenten services.
Vespers or Evening Prayer is appropriate for the season, and the suggested hymns are from Lutheran Service Book. If using Vespers, congregations might also consider the use of the included Passion Litany to replace the Kyrie and prayers.
The first reading tracks the story of Joseph, which supplies so many parallels to the Passion of Our Lord.
The second reading, in this year of St. Luke, is from that Evangelist’s account of the Passion.
