LCMS World Relief and Human Care – September 2023 ‘Sharing’ newsletter

LCMS World Relief and Human Care - Sharing Newsletter

In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, turning the lives of millions of Ukrainian men, women and children upside down. Since then, many people have fled their homes and are trying to rebuild their lives in a new place.

The September 2023 issue of Sharing takes a look at how The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) is offering the love and mercy to Christ to refugees in two locations around the world:

  • In Wittenberg, Germany, refugees have found a safe haven at the Synod’s Old Latin School, which is currently housing about 30 refugees as well as holding worship in the Ukrainian language.
  • In Hubbard, Iowa, an LCMS congregation helped a Ukrainian family find safety in the United States through the U.S. government’s Uniting for Ukraine program.

“Sometimes God drops the mandate and opportunity to love right in our laps, as He did with the Old Latin School and our dear Ukrainian friends. Thanks be to God,” Harrison writes in the issue.
