“There are profound biblical and Lutheran reasons for mercy as a corporate act of the church,” writes LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison in his letter in this issue of Sharing.
The issue looks at two instances of mercy in action:
- In Bourbonnais, Ill., St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is helping its youth develop “sticky” faith by providing them with opportunities to lead, grow in the faith and serve others.
- In Papua New Guinea, the Rev. Dr. Ron and Mary Anne Rall — two of the Synod’s longest-serving missionaries — walk alongside the people of the Gutnius Lutheran Church through the ups and downs of life.
