When God’s people come together, amazing things happen. This issue of Sharing gives just a few examples of how Lutherans are working together to care for people and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world:
- In Chula Vista, Calif., a Lutheran church in the suburbs of San Diego provides diapers, formula, food and clothing to families in need through Victory Resource Center. The center recently received a grant through the Synod’s Million Dollar Life Match to expand its programming and hours.
- In Sierra Leone, three volunteers from the United States came together to serve on a short-term agricultural consultancy team to help local church leaders and members improve their farming practices and better manage the resources God provides.
The Synod’s Million Dollar Life Match started in 2022 and has now distributed over $2 million for beginning-of-life care — all matched by the congregation or district that receives the grant. In his letter in this issue, LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison notes that, according to information provided by these pro-life partners, more than 640,000 women and children received care and heard the Gospel thanks to this grant program.
“This entire effort happened because you respond to this little newsletter…,” Harrison writes. “You are amazing. Our blessed Savior is amazing. Thanks be to God.”
