LCMS World Relief and Human Care – November 2022 ‘Sharing’ newsletter

LCMS World Relief and Human Care - Sharing Newsletter

In locations all over the world, Lutherans are active in serving their neighbors — all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The November 2022 issue of Sharing highlights a few examples of how the faithful are sharing Christ’s mercy and the Gospel with those in need:

  • In Kenya, a young man’s life has been changed by a partnership between the LCMS and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya. The program provides at-risk children with the opportunity to attend school, learn necessary life skills and hear about their Savior.
  • In Florida, LCMS Disaster Response is bringing together many volunteers and other partners to help those impacted by Hurricane Ian, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Sept. 28. The Synod’s Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) network is vital to this recovery work, as LERT volunteers help with clearing storm debris, mucking out houses and more.

“Right now, the heroes I’m thinking of are our dear LCMS folks in Florida who have been hit by the storm, who quickly patched things up in their own lives and stepped forward en masse to care for their friends and neighbors,” LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison writes in the issue. “Why? Because of Jesus.”
