LCMS World Relief and Human Care: Sharing newsletter — January 2022

Jesus Christ was born into this world fully human, body and soul. During His time on earth, He preached the good news of forgiveness of sins while also healing the sick and raising the dead. Following His example, Christians care for others in both body and soul: “Whatsoever you have done to the least of one of these my brethren, you have done it also unto me.”

Accordingly, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) has and continues to provide for people in all manner of spiritual and bodily peril. In this issue, you’ll read about two specific instances:

  • In communities throughout the United States, Lutherans are involved in all kinds of pro-life efforts — both big and small — that provide for mothers, fathers and children. To support these local efforts, the LCMS will offer $1 million in matching grants to congregations through its new Million Dollar Life Match.
  • In a remote region of Kenya, four men have been trained and ordained to serve as Lutheran pastors in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camps. Although pastors have visited the camps in the past, this is the first time that residents have had their own pastors to provide them with ongoing spiritual care.
