LCMS Worship provides suggestions for liturgy, psalms, readings, hymns and sermons to use during 2024 midweek Lenten services.
This year’s resources are based on the theme “We Preach Christ Crucified,” drawn from the 2023 LCMS convention.
The propers have been selected for use with Vespers. Where Evening Prayer is used, the first hymn may be omitted or shifted elsewhere. No propers have been provided for Ash Wednesday or the days of Holy Week and Easter, when the usually appointed propers should be used.
Sermon suggestions have been provided for Ash Wednesday to help connect texts to the overarching theme. Collects may be taken from the previous Sunday. The suggested hymns are from Lutheran Service Book.
